My overall opinion on "Looking for Alaska" by John Greene was a 7 out of 10. I thought it was very similar to the book/movie "Perks of Being a Wallflower" which made me love the book, in my opinion could've had a better ending or resolutio the storyline could've been a bit better because we never find out any of the answers that the main character had and that overwhelmed me but I do understand that many people love the ending because it makes you wonder what really happen without a solid statement.
During the first few chapters, I was hooked in because I wanted to find out how the main character Miles starts to change and how many interactions he starts to have with his first love Alaska, I loved how they explained each character each time they were introduced in the book, and each chapter Miles was introduced to a different lifestyle and I liked reading his new experiences in a different school.
Although, many people rate this book very high, my expectations for this book wasn't as I expected it to be, I loved the book and how it was set up but cliché love stories aren't really a thing that I would read, but because of this it had me want to read more romance books. The friendship in this character was worth reading, it has a lot relatable situations and problems that many friends go through, and what made me love the close friendship they had through out the whole was during the "After" section of the book when Miles and Chip didn't want to just stop and grieve for their friend Alaska's death, they needed answers and they believed that she was alive out there which made them look for her even more, and a close friendship like that is very heart warming.
Honestly, the writing was very confusing to me on the "After" section because when they announced Alaska was dead I had believed she did die, but when Chip and Miles had all these predictions and stuff it really made me believe she was alive and I was on the verge of tearing up when Miles had said he was ready to give up looking for Alaska because it couldn't end like that, I didn't cry but I was very upset how it ended like that after many days of looking for someone and finding no answers.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves high school romance and friendship, it's related to a lot of the problems many teenagers go through and by reading this book you'll be able to enjoy it because of how relatable it is.
